Village Overview:

The main livelihood of the village is farming. The lands are rain dependent any a failure in rain that season leads to crop failures. Most of the people migrate to Dubai as construction workers. They take huge amount of loan to pay for the expense to go to Dubai. Large part of their earning goes to repay the loan and finally what they save is insignificant when compared to efforts that have gone in. They also migrate to Tiruppur to work in garment factories. There are no significant NGO or individual contributions to development of village

Current Problems:

Education:

The school in mangudi is only up to 10^th and the dropout is minimal. Higher education is challenging since students have to travel up to 12km to sivagangai.After 10^th few student either start working in farms or migrate to tiruppur.

What is their expectation?

The village heads wants to improve the standard and also upgrade the school to 12^th.

Farming:

As mentioned in the overview farming is mainly rain dependent

What can be done?

Improve farming by scientific and innovative Idea

Self Help Group:

The SHGs are mainly involved in Micro finance

What is their expectation?

They what the SHG’s to do fruitful work. They are looking for ideas and opportunity.

Financing:

The panchayat received 20 lakhs grant from government last year and most of the fund are used.

Work for All Schemes:

The prime ministers work for all schemes is functioning in the village. Detailed update could not be obtained.

People’s Pulse:

Based on the interaction it is evident that the villagers are ready to work with us. The councilor has a vision that mangudi should be self sustainable in 5 Years (Politician’s speech interpretation at readers risk).The youth of the village are very eager to implement developmental projects. They are even ready to share the village related government documents with us.
